How does Tattup actually work?

Tattup’s little “magic trick” starts when our Special Ink Formula settles into the top most layer of your skin (the epidermis). Over about 24–48 hours, the formula reacts with natural components in your skin, gradually shifting color into a deep navy or black. Timing and shade vary from person to person because everyone’s skin chemistry is a bit unique.

By contrast, standard tattoos use needles to get ink into your dermis (the deeper layer). But Tattup stays in the outer layer, which means it won’t last forever—your epidermis naturally regenerates and eventually takes the tattoo with it.

How long does a Tattup tattoo last?

Expect your Tattup tattoo to fade slowly over about 1–2 weeks, thanks to your skin’s normal renewal cycle.

For extra insights, check out our GUIDE , which compares how long Tattup tattoos last on different body areas.

Pro tips for a longer-lasting design:

  • After roughly eight hours, a warm shower or gentle sweating can help deepen the color.
  • Avoid spots that get a ton of friction or water exposure. Minimal touching for the first eight hours is key.
  • After 48 hours, daily moisturizing helps keep it looking fresh.
  • Don’t scrub or exfoliate unless you’re intentionally trying to fade it out. Water,
basic soap, and saltwater eventually lighten the design over time.
Do I need to shave before applying a Tattup tattoo?

We suggest a hair-free zone to reduce the risk of smudging.

Which areas of my body are best for a Tattup tattoo?

The durability of your Tattup tattoo depends significantly on where you put it. Areas with less friction and minimal water exposure will help your tattoo stay fresh longer. Here are some tips:

Inner Forearm: One of the best spots—low friction, high visibility, and longer-lasting designs.

Upper Arm or Shoulder: Also great choices, as these areas experience less daily wear and tear.

Wrists or Hands: These areas move a lot and face frequent washing, so tattoos here might fade faster—but they do look pretty awesome :D

Feet and Ankles: Tattoos here tend to fade quicker due to constant movement and shoe friction.

Is Tattup friendly for all skin tones?

For sure! Tattup’s formula merges with the amino acids in your epidermis, turning that patch of skin a bold shade of blue or black. On deeper skin tones, the tattoo can look even more vibrant.

Does Tattup ink expire?

Yep—our tattoos stay fresh for about 12 months. Store them somewhere cool, dry, and shielded from direct sunlight. Over time, the active ingredients may lose strength, so don’t wait forever to use them.

Are Tattup tattoos waterproof?

They’re definitely water-friendly! Shower, swim, and sweat without immediate worries.💦
